Privacy

This site counts visits in aggregate. It sets no cookies and keeps nothing on your device, so there is no consent banner.

What is measured

Visits are counted with Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service. For each page view it records the page, the referring site, the browser, the operating system, the device type, the screen size, the language, and an approximate location (country, region, and city) looked up from the IP address. The IP address itself is not stored.

A few clicks are counted as events: opening or downloading the CV, following an email or profile link, opening a post, paper, or project from a list, following a paper or project link, and copying a paper's BibTeX. Each event records where on the page the link sits and which page or site you came from, so I can tell which parts of the site are useful.

What is not

  • No cookies, local storage, or other identifiers are written to your device.
  • Visits are grouped by an anonymous hash of the IP address and browser, salted with a value that changes every month, so you cannot be followed from month to month or across other sites.
  • No advertising, no data sales, no cross-site tracking.
  • If your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is recorded at all.

Questions

I only ever read the numbers in aggregate. If you have questions about them, use the email link in the footer.
